37:09
That’s where I am. I’ve tried 2 or 3 times to figure out Minecraft myself and couldn’t wrap my head around it yet.
Gerald Aungst
37:20
Let alone trying to teach with it.
Marcella Thayer
37:47
My boys love it. I should have learned how to do it when they did.
Sarah Weeks
38:08
I let my students teach me 5 years ago in an after school club, then I phased in using it in my curriculum
Simon Helton - ISTE
38:19
That’s so cool you had the students teach you, Sarah
Sarah Weeks
38:38
I still don't play very well, but I know enough to facilitate some deep learning!!
Peggy George
38:39
so true about Scott’s flexibility!! fantastic role model for us!
Simon Helton - ISTE
39:39
Just a reminder to everyone in the chat to set your messages to ‘everyone/all panelists and attendees’ :)

Does Second Life still exist? I haven’t been there in years.
Peggy George
44:56
I think it was second life where I first met Scott! :-)
Sarah Weeks
45:15
Yes!! Microsoft's upgrades to Mojang's MinecraftEDU are robust, with lots more coding options than the old turtles :)
Karen Hoover
45:17
SL is alive and thriving!
Tasneem Feroz Babrawala
45:52
Minecraft Education comes with Microsoft 365 account.
Marh Grant

Gerald Aungst
46:00
My district is Google. Can this still work?
Peggy George
46:21
students log into Minecraft with their own email account?? Does that assume you’re using GSuite?
Marh Grant
47:15
My school district has a MC EE education account. Students use their school emails to login MC EE
Gerald Aungst
47:47
I’m in a K-4 school and yes we’re GSuite but they cannot access email.
Peggy George
48:00

59:03
Michelle, can you post your question to all attendees to see if the group might have an answer?
Karen Hoover
59:35
We do!
Walter Tallman
59:40
You can also have NPCs (Non-player characters) set up to Teleport students through pre-written command prompts. That makes it a little less chaotic.

01:07:37
incredible!!! 800 students!!!
Gerald Aungst
01:09:58
Chromebooks?
Peggy George
01:10:16
Does it still require a lot of bandwidth if everyone in the class is using it?
Colin Travis
01:11:03
Does each student need to download to their own device?
Gerald Aungst
01:12:04
Chromebooks are my only reasonable option at this point but I’ll keep my eyes on this for the future!
Sarah Weeks
01:12:23
I used to run it with up to 30 kids and we rarely had problems (unless there was lots of TNT or ender dragons being spawned)
Peggy George
01:12:36
thanks Sarah
Walter Tallman
01:12:48
The Minecraft software needs to be downloaded on each device. If a world is being run multiplayer the world file only needs to be on the host's device. If you are playing multiplayer, it supports up to 30 players at one time...in the 20-30 player range bandwith starts to be an issue.
Lorraine Kasyan
01:13:11
With laptops do you find that the students need to use mice and not a trackpad?
Peggy George
01:13:32
thanks Walter! really helpful!
Walter Tallman
01:13:32
Mice definitely help! But not impossible without.
